A mark, ? or a name such as :email, written in a prepared statement where a value will go. The value is sent separately, so it can never change the SQL. A placeholder can stand only for a value, never for a table or column name.

نیشانەیەکە، ? یان ناوێک وەک :email، کە لە ڕستەیەکی ئامادەکراودا لە شوێنی نرخێک دەنووسرێت. نرخەکە بە جیا دەنێردرێت، بۆیە هەرگیز ناتوانێت SQLـەکە بگۆڕێت. شوێنگر تەنها دەتوانێت جێگەی نرخێک بگرێتەوە، هەرگیز جێگەی ناوی خشتە یان ستوون نا.

The PHP manual calls ? a "parameter marker"; شوێنگر (place-keeper) is already used in the registry definitions of prepared-statement and pdo. This entry replaces the earlier draft id sql-placeholder; "placeholder" is kept as an English alias.
