An account that the itself keeps, such as 'hana'@'localhost' in MySQL: a user name, a way to prove who it is (usually a ) and the given to it with GRANT. People and programs sign in to the database with it. It is not the same as an account on a website.

Kept apart from user account, which is a website's own record of one user (a row in a users table). A database account lives inside the DBMS and is managed with CREATE USER, GRANT and REVOKE.
