A change that a makes outside itself, besides giving back its : for example changing a , printing, or writing to a file. Side effects the caller cannot see in the call make a program harder to follow and to test.

Note on the Kurdish termتێبینی دەربارەی زاراوە کوردییەکە
Proposed by the Fundamentals of Programming writer (FOPW6). «کاریگەریی لاوەکی» is the usual Kurdish phrase for the side effect of a medicine — an extra result besides the intended one — which is exactly the programming sense; hence "everyday": true. Python's FAQ (rules for local and global variables) gives avoiding unintended side effects as the reason why global is required for assignment.
