A unit prefix that counts in powers of 2 (kibi = 1,024, mebi = $1024^2$ …), written KiB, MiB, GiB, TiB. The SI prefixes kilo, mega and giga mean 1,000, $1000^2$ …, which is why a «1 TB» drive shows about 931 GiB in Windows.

پێشگرێکی یەکەیە کە بە توانەکانی 2 دەژمێرێت (کیبی = ⁦1,024⁩، مێبی = $1024^2$ …)، بە KiB، MiB، GiB و TiB دەنووسرێت. پێشگرەکانی SI، وەک کیلۆ، مێگا و گێگا، بە مانای ⁦1,000⁩، $1000^2$ … دێن؛ بۆیە درایڤێکی «⁦1 TB⁩» لە Windowsـدا نزیکەی ⁦931 GiB⁩ پیشان دەدات.

1 KiB = 1,024 bytes but 1 kB = 1,000 bytes; 1 GiB = 1,073,741,824 bytes but 1 GB = 1,000,000,000 bytes.

پێشگر (prefix) + the registry's دووانی (binary). The IEC binary prefixes (NIST: physics.nist.gov/cuu/Units/binary.html) are not yet named in Kurdish sources. Proposed.
