Definition
A way of connecting two devices in which a fixed path is set up before they talk and is kept only for them until the end, even when they are silent. The old telephone network worked this way.
Example
In 1990, a call from Slemani to Duhok held one line through every exchange on the way for the whole call.

CSDW1 2026-10-24: In telephony a "circuit" is a reserved line; everyday Sorani says «هێڵی تەلەفۆن» for a phone line, so «سویچکردنی هێڵ» (line switching — the same idea as German Leitungsvermittlung) reads naturally; «سووڕ» is kept for electric and logic circuits (LD.json).
