A on the Shape Format tab that makes a new from two or more selected shapes. Its five options are Union, Combine, Fragment, Intersect and Subtract; for Subtract, the shape you select first is the one that is kept.

Select a circle and then a small square on top of it, and choose Subtract: you get a circle with a square hole.
