The world standard that gives every character of every writing system, including Kurdish, its own number, called a code point. ASCII is its first 128 characters, and UTF-8 is the usual way to store Unicode text in bytes.

ستانداردێکی جیهانییە کە بە هەر نووسەیەکی هەموو سیستەمەکانی نووسین، لەوانە کوردی، ژمارەیەکی تایبەت دەدات کە پێی دەوترێت ژمارەی نووسە. ASCII یەکەم ⁦128⁩ نووسەی Unicodeـە و ⁦UTF-8⁩ ڕێگە باوەکەیە بۆ هەڵگرتنی دەقی Unicode لە بایتەکاندا.

The Kurdish letter ڕ has the code point U+0695; in UTF-8 it takes 2 bytes. Because Python strings are Unicode, "سڵاو" works just like "hello".
