One of the standard ways of arranging disks in : RAID 0 (striping: fast, but no protection), RAID 1 (mirroring), RAID 5 (striping with : survives one failed disk), RAID 6 (two parity blocks: survives two) and RAID 10 (striping across mirrored pairs).
