A short way to write a long sum with the Greek letter $\Sigma$ (sigma): $\sum_{i=1}^{n} X_i = X_1 + X_2 + \cdots + X_n$. It works like a loop that adds every term.

The owner's research notes for the owner's essay «بیرکاری و کۆمپیوتەر (پەیوەندیی نێوانیان)» (2022): «کۆکردنەوە (Summation) کە بە هێمای (سیگما)ـی گریکی دەخرێتە ڕوو». The registry uses نیشانە for 'notation' (big-o-notation = نیشانەی O-ی گەورە), so «نیشانەی سیگما»; the owner's «هێمای سیگما» is an alternative. «نیشانەی کۆکردنەوە» is not used: existing lessons (php-variables) use it for the plus sign.
