Happening in step, one after another or on a shared clock. In programs, synchronous work is done one step at a time and each step waits for the one before it, so while it waits for a file or the network the whole app freezes. In digital circuits, a synchronous circuit changes all its on the same clock edge.

The owner's bilingual paper «جیاوازیی نێوان کرداری ئاسایی و داهاتوویی لە فڵەتەردا» writes «کردارە هاوکاتەکان (ئینگلیزی: Synchronous)» and the adverb هاوکاتانە. In-use. Reviewers: in everyday Sorani هاوکات means 'at the same time', nearly the opposite of how synchronous steps run, so lessons must explain the word (a calque of syn- 'together' + chronos 'time'). Not the registry's sync «هاوکاتکردن» (keeping files the same on two devices).
