The rule that grouping does not change the result when the same operation joins three or more values: $(a + b) + c = a + (b + c)$ and $(ab)c = a(bc)$ for numbers and matrices, and $A + (B + C) = (A + B) + C$, $A(BC) = (AB)C$ for OR and AND in Boolean algebra.
