The rule that the order of the two values does not change the result: $a + b = b + a$ and $a \times b = b \times a$ for numbers, and $A + B = B + A$, $A \cdot B = B \cdot A$ for OR and AND in Boolean algebra. It does not hold for subtraction, division or matrix multiplication ($AB \ne BA$ in general).
