A flat round disc, such as a CD, DVD or Blu-ray, that is read and written with a laser. Today it is mostly used for films, music and old software.

Note on the Kurdish termتێبینی دەربارەی زاراوە کوردییەکە
Changed from دیسکی پەستێنراو. The KRG Grade 7 IT textbook (S1, p. 16) heads its section «Optical Discs» دیسکە پەستێنراوەکان, but پەستێنراو means "pressed, compressed" (a calque of compact in compact disc, not of optical), and CêIT uses پەستاندن for file compression (file-compression and the candidates for lossy/lossless compression), so it would suggest a compressed disc. Barzinji's dictionary (S4, pp. 57/46 and 64/53) gives دیسکی لەیزەری for CD and compact disc and uses it in تۆمارکەری دیسکی لەیزەری (CD-ROM burner): it names what makes the disc optical, the laser, and matches چاپەری لەیزەری (laser-printer). دیسکی پەستێنراو stays an alternative because students meet it in the Grade 7 book; دیسکی ئۆپتیکی is not attested in the surveyed sources.
