Yes, here it is. I need an account for the student portal.
OK. First you have to choose a password. It must be at least twelve characters long.
Twelve? That's long! Do I have to change it every month?
No, you don't have to change it, unless you think someone knows it. But you mustn't use it for any other website.
How can I remember so many different passwords?
You should use a password manager. Many phones already have one.
Good idea. And what's this message about two-factor authentication?
Every student has to turn it on. When you log in, the portal sends a code to your phone, so a stranger can't get in with just your password.
And if I lose my phone?
Then you must tell us immediately. We'll block the old phone and set up the new one.
Can I use the campus Wi-Fi for everything?
Yes, it's safe here. But in cafés, be careful: you shouldn't log in to your bank on public Wi-Fi without a VPN.
Thanks, that's really helpful.

COMPUTER LAB – SECURITY RULES
You must log in with your own account, and you have to log out before you leave.
You mustn't install programs on lab computers or share your password with anyone.
You don't have to bring a USB stick: save your work to your university cloud storage.
You should check links before you click them, and you should report strange messages to the IT office in Room 12.
Thank you for keeping our lab safe!

Going further: precise security English
- Hacker or cracker? In the news, hacker usually means a criminal. In IT, a white-hat hacker (an ethical hacker) is paid to find security holes before criminals do, and a black-hat hacker breaks the law. Some writers call criminal hackers crackers.
- Verb or noun? log in / a login, back up / a backup, set up / the setup, sign up / a sign-up page. The verb is two words; the noun is one: Back up your files. The backup failed.
- Make sure or ensure? Make sure is neutral and common in instructions. Ensure is more formal: Users must ensure that their devices are encrypted.
- data: in IT writing it is normally uncountable: The data is encrypted. Scientific writing sometimes treats it as plural: The data are stored…
- needn't: formal British English for don't have to: You needn't bring a laptop.
- free software, freeware or shareware? Freeware costs nothing. Shareware is free to try, and then you pay. Free (open-source) software lets anyone read, change and share the source code. Only download them from the official website.

Rewrite this message from a manager as a formal IT notice. Use must, ensure and should, and remove the informal language: “hey all, pls stop using the same pw for everything!!! and turn on 2FA asap, it's not optional anymore. also maybe get a pw manager?”

Model answer: All staff must use a different password for each work account and must enable two-factor authentication by Friday. Please ensure that your passwords are at least 12 characters long. We also recommend that you use a password manager; staff should contact the IT office for help with installation.

What is the difference between a virus and a worm?
A virus needs a host file and spreads when someone opens that file. A worm copies itself across a network by itself.

Why is two-factor authentication safer than a password alone?
Because an attacker who steals your password still needs the second factor, for example the code on your phone.

You mustn't open strange attachments. (Or: You shouldn't open strange attachments.)
You mustn't open strange attachments. (یان: You shouldn't open strange attachments.)
