Choose one app you use every day: a taxi app, a food-delivery app or your university's student portal. Somebody built it. Who decided what it should do? How did they know that it worked?

The (SDLC) is the path a software project follows, from the first idea to the last update. Most teams describe six stages. When the software needs a new version, the cycle starts again.

Reading: a bus app for Erbilخوێندنەوە: ئەپێک بۆ پاسەکانی هەولێر
Last year a small software company in Erbil decided to build an app for the city's buses. Many students take the bus to university, but nobody knew when the next bus would come.
First, a called Rezan met bus drivers, passengers and the transport office. He wrote down the : the app must show every bus on a map, it must work on cheap phones, and it must use very little mobile data.
Next, the designers drew the screens and made a simple . Ten students tried it. They said the buttons were too small, so the team changed the design before anyone wrote real code.
Then the developers started coding. They used , so four people could work on the same code without losing each other's changes.
After that, the testers checked every feature. They found 63 . One serious bug showed the buses driving through the river! The developers fixed it in one afternoon.
Finally, the team deployed the app to the app stores and to the company's server. Now the project is in the stage: the team reads users' reviews, fixes small problems and plans the next version. Next month they are adding Kurdish and Arabic menus.

In the design stage the team also chooses its tools. No language is the best for everything: each one is good for certain jobs. The systems analyst and the developers think about the job, the devices and the team's skills.

Classes and objectsکلاسەکان و ئۆبجێکتەکان
Many modern languages, such as Java, C#, Python and PHP, support object-oriented programming (OOP). A class is a plan, for example Student: every student has a name, an ID number and marks. An object is one real thing made from the plan: the student Shilan, ID 2041, with her own marks.

Unlike a paper form, an object can also do things: a Student object can calculate its own average.

Two more OOP words you will read: encapsulation (an object keeps its data and the actions that use it together, and hides the details) and inheritance (a new class takes the features of an existing class: GraduateStudent inherits from Student). Polymorphism means that different objects can answer the same request in their own way.

Language focus: plans and predictions
Software teams talk about the future all the time: deadlines, releases, risks. English has no single future tense. The form you choose shows whether you are predicting, deciding on the spot, or reporting a fixed plan.

The difference between will and going to is often small, but decisions show it clearly. If you decide now, use will: 'The server is down? I'll restart it.' If you decided earlier, use going to: 'I'm going to restart the server after lunch.'
When to use will, be going to and the present continuous to talk about the future, with clear examples.

To give steps in order, use First or First of all, then Next, Then or After that, and finish with Finally. You can also use before or after + the -ing form: 'After testing the app, we deploy it.'
